Interfaith Hospitality Network Cambridge Site
Located at 310 South Ashland St, Cambridge, MN 55008, the Interfaith Hospitality Network Cambridge Site (IHN Cambridge Site), a program of New Pathways, Inc., provides services and transitional shelter for homeless famlies with children who have lived in the following five county area for at least 30 days:
- Isanti - Chisago - Pine - Kanabec - Mille Lacs
After a thorough screening process, qualifying families complete orientation paperwork which is the official beginning to thier commitment to the IHN program. Under program guidelines, families are expected to follow through with Action Plans, which are set up by a Case Manager. Action Plans include a list of goals (i.e. housing, employment, counseling, job/school training, ect.) and concrete steps to reach those goals. Most work is done at the Family Day Center where families can access internet equipped computers, low-income housing lists, and a guest phone for business inquiries.
IHN Cambridge Site has an on-site Family Educator who assists families with skills building. An Educational Plan is developed with each family including a list of goals (i.e. parenting, budgeting, interviewing skills, ect.) with specific steps to reach each goal. IHN Cambridge Site works with community agencies such as local school districts which provide assistance with basic education skills, meeting GED requirements, and child development.
After spending the day at the Family Day Center, families either drive or are driven to the disignated church for the week. IHN Cambridge Site collaborates with 16 churches and hundreds of volunteers who provide hospitality in the form of home-cooked dinners, added support system, and private sleeping rooms. In the morning, the families arrive back at the Family Day Center to begin a new day of work, schooling, or work on their program goals.
Families can stay with the IHN Cambridge Site program for a temporary say enabling time to become self-sufficient again. The IHN Cambridge Site can serve up to 6 families at one time, not to exceed 24 persons.
